Mountain Hawks hit the road for key league matches at Army, Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With just two weeks left until the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh men's tennis team will take on a pair of league opponents this weekend when they face off against Army on Saturday and visit Bucknell on Monday.
 
The men's squad enters the weekend at 10-7 overall, including an 8-3 mark at home, but the Mountain Hawks will play three of their four remaining regular season matches on the road. The Mountain Hawks are coming off of a strong win against league rival Loyola on Sunday. Lehigh swept the doubles matches and then won all six singles matches with senior Mitchell Petersen clinching the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Reid Burch at No. 4 singles.
 
Lehigh is now 1-1 in Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks dropped their league opener to Navy 5-2 last Saturday with junior Jeremy Kochman and Petersen posting singles wins to account for Lehigh's points.
 
Saturday's opponent, Army, sports a 13-8 overall record, including an undefeated Patriot League record at 4-0 and a 13-3 mark at home. The Black Knights have won their last four matches, with league wins over Holy Cross, Loyola, Lafayette and most recently, Boston University. Lehigh last defeated Army, the defending league champions, in 2012.
 
The Bucknell Bison have shared in equal success this season, going 9-6 on the year, with a 3-0 record at home. The Bison are led by junior Nick Bybel, who became the program's all-time record holder with 77 career wins on March 24. Bucknell enters a busy weekend having won its last four matches, most recently a 5-2 triumph over George Mason last Sunday. The Bison will open Patriot League play with matches against Lafayette (Thursday), Colgate (Saturday) and Army (Sunday) before Lehigh visits on Monday/
 
Lehigh will compete against Army at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Point, N.Y. Monday's match with Bucknell will begin at 3 p.m.  Following these two matches, Lehigh will visit Colgate on April 11 before closing out the regular season at home against Lafayette on April 13.
