Lehigh travels to Princeton and Moravian this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams face another busy weekend Friday and Saturday when the Mountain Hawks split their squads between Moravian's Greyhound Invitational and Princeton's Larry Ellis Invite. Field events kick off action at Moravian at 4 p.m. Friday before the meet resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday. Action at the Princeton meet gets underway at 2 p.m. Friday before resuming at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Mountain Hawks are headed to Moravian for the second week in a row after Lehigh competed in the Coach P Open in addition to Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic last weekend. Senior Benjamin Beauchamp recorded a pair of IC4A-qualifying marks in the discus throw (49.85 meters) and hammer throw (54.27 meters) and earned first place in both events to lead the Lehigh men at Moravian. At the Bison Outdoor Classic, senior Ryan Mahalsky turned out an IC4A-qualifying time of 3:50.76 in the 1,500 meter run to finish in 13th place.
The Lehigh women were led by reigning Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week Courtney Avery last weekend, who earned another high jump victory with a leap of 1.69 meters at the Coach P Open. Senior Carly Deskins picked up the javelin title with a throw of 43.65 meters, while Lehigh took the top three spots in the 800 meter run, led by freshman Hanna Brosky who earned first with a time of 2:16.98. At the Bison Outdoor Classic, senior Victoria Mullane took home eighth place in the 94-person field of the 800 meter dash with a clip of 2:12.43.
The Mountain Hawk men set a new school record in the 5,000 meter run at Princeton last year, while six men turned out IC4A-qualifying marks. The women set two new school records in the 5,000 meter run and 400 meter dash in addition to six Mountain Hawks putting up ECAC-qualifying times.
The Mountain Hawks will host the Lehigh Games, the lone home meet of the outdoor season, next weekend in addition to sending athletes to the prestigious Penn Relays.
