Lehigh ties for second in final tune-up before Patriot League Championship

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – In its final tune-up before this weekend's Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh women's golf team tied for second place in a four-team field at the Red Flash Invitational, which wrapped-up Tuesday at Sunnehanna Country Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 315 on Tuesday to finish the two-day, 54-hole event at 942 (322-305-315). Lehigh's second round 305 tied for the low team round of the tournament.
 
Senior Kelly Moylan and junior Nicole Feierberg led Lehigh individually, tying for fifth place at 234. Moylan shot three consecutive rounds of 78. Feierberg shot 82 in Monday's first round but bounced back with back-to-back rounds of 76.
 
Lehigh's No. 3 finisher was senior Melanie Dickens, who tied for 11th place at 238. Dickens shot 84 on Tuesday but carded the low round of the tournament for the Mountain Hawks with a second round 73.
 
Freshman Megan Moylan finished in 15th place at 240 (82-78-80), while senior Alyssa Scheyd rounded out Lehigh's contingent of scoring players with a 242 (81-80-81) to tie for 17th.
 
The Mountain Hawks also had two players compete as individuals. Freshman Casey Farmer tied for 11th at 238 (76-82-80), while junior Tess Jennings shot 249 (81-82-86) and finished in 20th place.
 
Tournament host Saint Francis (Pa.) took the team title at 923 (309-309-305) while Lehigh tied with Wagner for second place. Niagara finished in fourth place.
 
Taylar Jaramillo of Saint Francis was the individual medalist at 224 (75-73-76). She earned a two stroke win over Noelle Maertz of Wagner.
 
The Mountain Hawks will now shift focus to the Patriot League Championship hosted by Navy this Saturday and Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md.Â
