Mountain Hawks earn 5-2 victory over Delaware

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team (9-5) earned its second-straight victory Saturday afternoon at the Lewis Tennis Center as the Mountain grabbed a 5-2 win over Delaware (0-11). Lehigh swept the doubles matches before winning four singles matches to earn the victory.
The No. 2 doubles team of senior Mitchell Peterson and sophomore Ethan Bogard opened things with an 8-2 win over Delaware's Tyler Flematti and Colin Wong. The Mountain Hawks' top team of senior Ben Gilman and junior Jeremy Kochman clinched the doubles point with an 8-5 victory over Shane Jeffray and Matt Renzi before Lehigh's No. 3 team of freshman Jack Peterson and sophomore Graham Lehman completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over Delaware's Mike Furr and Alex Sweet.
Kochman earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jeffray at No. 2 singles before Mitchell Peterson defeated Flematti 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Gilman clinched the match victory for the Mountain Hawks with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Furr at No. 1 singles to put the Mountain Hawks up 4-0.
Renzi earned Delaware's first point with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win over Jack Peterson at No. 3 singles, but Bogard followed with a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Tim Puterio at No. 5 singles to put Lehigh ahead 5-1. The Blue Hens grabbed the last point of the match as Wong defeated sophomore Tyler Hansen 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 6 singles, but Lehigh was able to safely earn the 5-2 victory.
The Mountain Hawks return to action Tuesday at Temple at 4 p.m. before returning home to host Navy Saturday at 11 a.m.
