
Richmond halts Lehigh winning streak at three with 4-0 victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Richmond Saturday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. In the first-to-four format, Richmond claimed the top two doubles flights and the first three singles flights to even its record at 3-3 while dropping the Mountain Hawks to 4-2.
The Spiders took a 1-0 lead in doubles as brothers Ethan and Jacob Dunbar defeated freshman Jack Petersen and sophomore Graham Lehman 8-3 at the top flight and Canyon Teague and James Aronson handed senior Ben Gilman and junior Jeremy Kochman their first doubles loss of the season 8-4. The match at No. 3 doubles was tied 6-6 when the doubles point was clinched.
Richmond continued its strong play into singles as Teague defeated senior Mitchell Petersen 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 flight and Jacob Dunbar defeated Jack Petersen 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 flight. Ethan Dunbar clinched the match for the Spiders with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Gilman at the top flight. Kochman was down a set but up 4-2 in the second when the match ended. The matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles never got started.
Lehigh returns to the courts on Sunday February 22 when the Mountain Hawks host Mount St. Mary's at 2 p.m.
