BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After playing seven of its first nine games on the road, the Lehigh men's basketball team begins a four-game homestand on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks host Mount St. Mary's at 7 p.m. Continuing Lehigh's challenging nonleague schedule, the Mountaineers were preseason favorites in the NEC, but enter with a 3-7 record due in large part to a challenging schedule of their own. Both squads look to gain momentum heading into conference play. Junior Tim Kempton will be recognized prior to Saturday's game for recently eclipsing 1,000 career points.

Playing without Kempton on Thursday due to injury, the Mountain Hawks dropped a tight 69-67 final at defending NEC Champion Robert Morris. Lehigh twice fell behind by 10 points (once in each half), but the Mountain Hawks had an answer each time. Early in the second half, two straight three-pointers from sophomore Kahron Ross evened the score at 41. Trailing 60-50 midway through the second half, Lehigh responded with a 17-7 run as a floater from junior Austin Price evened the score at 67 with just 1:26 on the clock. Robert Morris responded with a layup on the following possession, which proved to be the game's final scoring.

Price led the Mountain Hawks with 19 points, 12 coming in the second half. He finished 8-of-15 from the floor, including 5-of-6 on two-pointers. Price also had four rebounds and a team-high four assists with zero turnovers. Turnovers was a problem as Lehigh finished with 18, including three in the game's final 2:03. The Mountain Hawks had several chances to tie or take a lead, but turnovers proved costly in the comeback attempt.

Sophomore Kahron Ross and senior Jesse Chuku scored 14 points apiece. Ross finished 6-of-9 from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point range while Chuku provided a lot of offense, especially early. He had 10 points before the game was 14 minutes old, scoring 10 of the Mountain Hawks' first 29 points. Freshman Kyle Leufroy finished with eight points, a career-high tying six rebounds along with two assists and two steals, which were both career highs. Chuku's three steals were also a career high.

One strong sign for Lehigh was its rebounding. The Mountain Hawks outrebounded Robert Morris 20-8 in the second half to finish the game with a dominant 34-23 advantage, this without 6-foot-10 Kempton, who is averaging a team and Patriot League leading 8.6 boards per game this season. Senior Justin Goldsborough was impressive, tallying a game-high seven rebounds including six offensive boards. He had three more offensive rebounds than the entire Robert Morris team.

Mount St. Mary's has struggled this season due in large part to a challenging schedule. The Mountaineers began their season with games at Maryland, Ohio State, Washington and Gonzaga. Mount St. Mary's did win three straight games, all against Patriot League opponents and all at home: American, Loyola and Bucknell. Last time out, the Mountaineers lost at UMBC. They are led offensively by BK Ashe and his 16.2 scoring average. Junior Robinson is also averaging double figures at 11.2 points per contest. Gregory Graves owns a team-leading 4.7 rebounds per game. As a team, Mount St. Mary's is one of the worst rebounding teams in the nation, getting outrebounded by an average of 16.9 this season (26.8 - 43.7).

Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between Lehigh and Mount St. Mary's. The Mountain Hawks have played every other NEC team at least two times.

After Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks will remain home on Tuesday to host preseason America East favorite Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
