Lehigh looks back at 2015 season at annual banquet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team took time to reflect on its 2015 season and handed out team awards at the Mountain Hawks' annual banquet on Sunday, Dec. 6. The dinner and awards presentation included a season reflection by head coach Bob Bertucci.
The Outstanding Athlete of the Year award, given to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team, was awarded to
senior Ana Vrhel. Vrhel finished the season as Lehigh's leader in total blocks (118) and service aces (43). She ranked third on the team with 253 kills to go along with a strong .280 hitting percentage.

Senior Amy Matula earned the Scholar-Athlete award, which is presented to the player who embodies the true meaning of the phrase student-athlete. Matula was named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS award at the beginning of the season and holds a strong 3.44 grade point average as an Environmental Engineering major and the Memphis, Tenn. Native is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member. She led the team with 824 assists this season and finished her career in the Brown and White with 3,326 assists, good for third best on Lehigh's all-time leaderboard.
The Coaches Award, given to the student athlete who made noteworthy contributions to the team in the areas of attitude, improvement and leadership, was awarded to freshman
Emily Develle. Develle stepped into the starting libero role midway through the season. She finished her rookie campaign with 319 digs, good for an average of 2.87 per set.
The Mountain Hawks wrapped up the 2015 season with a 19-13 overall record and 11-5 mark in Patriot League play. Lehigh made its fifth-straight Patriot League Tournament appearance after earning the No. 3 seed.
