Polak earns Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh volleyball freshman Megan Polak has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Polak recorded her first career double-double Friday when she dished a career-best 37 assists and registered 11 digs in a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross. The Kirtland, Ohio native also added four kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Polak followed that performance with 20 assists, nine digs and three kills to Saturday to help Lehigh to a 3-2 upset of second-place Army West Point. She averaged 8.14 assists per set in the two matches combined.

This is the first Rookie of the Week award for Polak and Lehigh's second as a team. Freshman Emily Develle garnered Rookie of the Week laurels earlier this month.

Polak and the Mountain Hawks will return to action Saturday when No. 3 Lehigh takes on No. 2 Army in the Patriot League Semifinals at American's Bender Arena. First serve is set for 4 p.m. and free video will be available on the Patriot League Network.
