Mountain Hawks top NJIT 151-100 for second win in as many days

MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team picked up its second win in as many days on Sunday, topping NJIT 151-100. Several Mountain Hawks won a pair of events, including sophomore Jacob Moyar who set a new pool record in the 1,000 yard freestyle. Senior Jake Greene also set a new pool record in the 400 IM. The meet took place at Montclair State University.

"I am impressed with how the guys continue to get themselves up," said head coach Rob Herb. "We have been working very hard and this confirms we are ready to shine at Patriots."

Moyar finished his record-breaking 1,000 yard freestyle in 9:54.32 for his first win of the day. Not far behind was freshman Patrick Champagne in second. Moyar's other win came in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing in 1:54.94. Moyar was also part of the 200 yard medley relay team which came in first place and set a meet record with a time of 1:37.99. Senior Sean Brant, junior Jake Hassel and sophomore Jamal Willis were the other members of the team.

Individually, Willis tied a pool record in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing in 21.30 seconds. Brant won both the 100 yard backstroke (53.21) and 200 yard backstroke (1:55.89) while sophomore Kevin Huntley finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.61) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:14.70).

Other winners included senior Danny Bennett in the 200 yard freestyle (1:45.10), Willis in the 50 yard freestyle (21.30) and sophomore Justin White in the 100 yard freestyle (45.41). Willis' time tied a pool record while Greene finished the 400 IM in a pool record time of 4:13.10. Bennett had an impressive time of 4:53.91 in the 500 yard freestyle.

Lehigh will return to action at Bucknell on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks face the Bison at 1 p.m.
