BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams have another busy weekend ahead as the Mountain Hawks head to Moravian's Greyhound Invitational and Princeton's Larry Ellis Invite Friday and Saturday in the penultimate weekend before the Patriot League Championships. Senior Brooke Astor is also competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., which is widely regarded as one of the nation's largest and most prestigious outdoor meets.
Astor is competing in the heptathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays and will wrap up competition Thursday. The Greyhound Invitational will begin at 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday from Moravian's Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. The Larry Ellis Invitational will take place Friday afternoon and all day Saturday at Princeton's Weaver Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks spent last weekend at Moravian and Bucknell in the Coach Pollard Invite and Bison Classic. Senior Danielle Albergo led the women with a new Lehigh record in the 400 meter dash. Albergo ran the race in 55.98 to set a new Lehigh standard and grab first place. Classmate Jimil Ataman took home first place in the weight throw at both meets with a pair of ECAC qualifying marks, while senior Jessica Kendzor ran an ECAC qualifying 800 meter race.
Senior Adeolu Adesida led the men last weekend with an IC4A qualifying high jump at the Coach Pollard Invite as the Mountain Hawks turned out multiple successful performances in the field events before strong track finishes highlighted the Bison Classic.
Following this weekend, the Mountain Hawks will host the Lehigh Games, the only home meet of the outdoor season, on April 26 while also sending athletes to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The Patriot League Championship meet takes place May 2-3 at Navy.
