ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Freshman Jacob Moyar broke a 19 year old school record highlighting the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team's effort Thursday at Navy's Lejeune Hall. Moyar finished seventh overall in the 500 yard freestyle but his time of 4:28.89 was just over a second more than the previous record, which was set by Jeff Cline in 1995.

Moyar's record was the second of two set by the Lehigh men on Thursday. Freshman Jamal Willis tied Demetri Karedis' school mark in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.19 seconds in the morning preliminary round. Willis finished second in Thursday night's finals with a time of 20.22. Senior Chris Hoke also reached the A Final in the 50 free and finished fifth with a time of 20.42.

In addition to Moyar's success in the 500 free, juniors Danny Bennett and Eric Sherwood reached the B Final. Sherwood clocked in at 4:37.41 to finish 14th, while Bennett finished 16th with a time of 4:41.53.

In the 200 IM junior Jake Greene won the B Final with a time of 1:51.57.

Lehigh's 200 free relay put forth a strong effort but was not able to defend its title from a year ago. Willis and Hoke teamed with junior Martin Kendig and freshman Justin White to finish third in 1:21.12.

Junior Dan Bateman added four points to Lehigh's cause, finishing 13th in the three meter event with a score of 219.95.

As a team, Lehigh remains in fifth place with 148 points. The Mountain Hawks trail fourth place Bucknell by 26 points. Navy continues to lead the field with 356.5 points, nearly 150 more than second place Boston University.

The four-day Patriot League Championships continue Friday at Navy's Lejeune Hall, with preliminaries set for 10:30 a.m. and finals set for 6 p.m. All the action will be streamed live via the Patriot League Network.
