BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's cross country teams were each awarded USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors, as announced by the association on Friday. The Mountain Hawks were one of only 146 programs to have both the men's and women's teams earn the recognition. In addition, senior Tyler Mueller was one of just 72 male student-athletes from across the country and the only Patriot League male to earn individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

Mueller, a bioengineering major and philosophy minor, finished his standout senior season with a trip to NCAA Championships where he placed 67th to secure the best-ever finish by a Lehigh runner. The Pottstown, Pa. native became the first-ever Lehigh runner to earn Patriot League Runner of the Year accolades following his first-place finish at the league championship meet.

Mueller was named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team for the second-straight season as the senior has tallied an impressive 3.26 grade point average throughout his time at Lehigh.

USTFCCA individual All-Academic honors for the 2013 cross country season were awarded to student-athletes who compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater and finished as an All-American or among the top 15 finishers in his regional meet.

The Mountain Hawk men were also honored as a team due to their strong 3.28 team GPA. Lehigh was only one of 160 men's cross country teams from across the country that compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher to qualify for the award.

The Lehigh women were one of 217 women's programs to earn the recognition. The Mountain Hawks hold a strong 3.42 grade point average as a team. To earn the honors, teams must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Sophomore Jennifer Markham is the reigning Patriot League women's cross country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as the chemical engineering major holds a cumulative 3.86 GPA and finished fourth at the Patriot League Championship meet in November. Markham was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team.

Graduate student Rosie Roessell joined Markham on the Academic All-Patriot League squad, as she compiled a 3.78 GPA in her energy systems engineering graduate program.

The Lehigh women secured their best Patriot League finish since 2000 when the Mountain Hawks claimed second place at championship meet. The team wrapped up a successful season with its third-ever top-ten finish at the NCAA Regional Championship as the Mountain Hawks finished ninth.
