Lehigh finishes competition at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 36th annual Brooks Paul Short Run is underway on the Goodman Campus and the Lehigh women finished in 30th place while the men placed 32nd. Sophomore Katherine Pierce was the top finisher on the women’s side as she crossed in 21:31 to place 49th while for the men, junior Steve Sample crossed in 76th place in a time of 24:26. The women’s team champion was West Virginia, while Indiana University claimed the top spot in the men’s race with all five Hoosiers placing in the top-20 individually.
Other runners for Lehigh on the women’s side included Andrea Mascaro who crossed in 135th place with a time of 22:16, Alexis Weiner (167, 22:34), Kaitlin Grimm (181, 22:40), Dana Stellar (218, 23:02), Megan Hetzel (244, 23:26) and Samantha Anderson (252, 23:37). The Mountain Hawks’ men’s lineup included Evan Flach (144, 25:16), Doug Ridyard (170, 25:26), Evans Kosgei (191, 25:32) and Andrew Jervis (213, 25:39)
Individually, Neely Spence of Shippensburg crossed first on the women’s side in a time of 19:58, while Ryan Hill finished first in the men’s race as the member of North Carolina State’s squad finished in 23:40.
In the men’s brown race, Wayne State totaled 184 points to claim first place with Ricky Flynn of Lynchburg College earning the individual championship as he crossed in a time of 24:43. In the women’s brown race, Kutztown University finished in first place with a score of 111 and Tina Yi of Edinboro crossed first individually with a time of 21:05. The men’s white race saw Mary Washington claim the team title with 116 points, while in the men’s JV race Dan Giza took the top spot as he crossed in 24:54 and Maria Elana Calle won the JV women’s race in a time of 20:48.
