Mountain Hawks travel to Fairleigh Dickinson for Labor Day contest

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team will travel to Teaneck, N.J. on Monday night to face Fairleigh Dickinson in a Labor Day match slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 3-0 loss to Bryant on Friday night.

Though the Mountain Hawks were unable to put the ball in the back of the net in their season opening loss, they did fire off 12 shots and hold an 8-2 shot advantage in the second half.  Juniors Ali Famili and Brian Suchoski both recorded two shots a piece.  Head Coach Dean Koski was particularly impressed with junior Matt Schreiner who came off the bench late in the game to give the team a lift, and provided the best scoring opportunity of the night.  Koski mixed experienced players with newcomers during the first game as five freshmen saw significant playing time.

Fairleigh Dickinson is coming off a 1-0 season opening victory at Drexel. Knights junior Godfred Baafi scored the winning goal in the 84th minute, which proved to be all the team would need to walk away with the win. The 2012 Knights captured the Northeast Conference Tournament title, and made an NCAA Tournament appearance where they won two games to advance to the Round of 16.

The Knights lead the all-time series against the Mountain Hawks, 6-4-4. The last contest took place in 2009 and Lehigh came away victorious by a score of 2-0.

After Monday's match, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Albany for a 7 p.m. Saturday match. The team will then return home to begin a two game home stand that features Drexel (September 12) and Yale (September 15).
