KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Lehigh softball team closed out its week-long trip to Florida by splitting a pair of contests Friday at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mountain Hawks avenged a loss to North Dakota on Sunday with a 7-0 win Friday morning, but dropped their final game in Florida 3-1 to Columbia. The Mountain Hawks are now 7-7-1 overall after going 4-6 over ten games this week.

Sophomore Emily Bausher went the distance on a two-hitter for her second shutout of the week. Bausher struck out 13 as she improves to 3-2 on the season.

Senior Liz Lucas gave the Mountain Hawks a fast start offensively, with a three-run double in the top of the first inning. Lehigh scored three more runs in the third on three consecutive doubles by sophomore Cassie Waggy, junior Kristin Taft and Bausher. Senior Kristin Mitchell plated Bausher with a RBI single to give the Mountain Hawks a 6-0 lead.

Taft capped the scoring with her first career home run in the top of the seventh.

In Friday's second game, Columbia's Emily Kenyon limited the Mountain Hawks to just two hits in seven innings. Emily Snodgrass provided all the offense for the Lions with a fifth inning three-run home run off senior Becca Bliss. Lehigh took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as senior Rosie Roessel stole second base and then came all the way around to score on a throwing error catcher Liz Caggiano.

Lucas picked up Lehigh's first hit with a double to right center in the fourth. Sophomore Emma Capetz delivered a one-out bloop single in the sixth. Kenyon walked Lucas intentionally to put the tying run on base in the sixth, but struck out Waggy to end the threat.
Bliss allowed three runs on seven hits as she took the loss (3-4). The senior right-hander struck out two and did not walk a batter. Kenyon improved to 1-2 for Columbia as she struck out six Mountain Hawks and walked three in a complete game effort.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Penn for a doubleheader, with first pitch for game one set for 3 p.m. from Penn Park.
