Why Lehigh? “I chose Lehigh because it is a great school, great softball program and it is far away from my home in Colorado. I wanted to challenge myself and explore a new part of the country, and now I can easily say “mission accomplished.”

On Coach Troyan: “Coach Troyan has high expectations both in the classroom and on the field. He builds an environment that is fun, but also carries a ‘get-the-job-done’ attitude.”

On the Lehigh softball experience: “It means joining a family in which everyone comes together to compete for the same goal, winning. It’s about working as hard as you can and being able to look at the girl standing next to you doing the same thing.”

As a junior: Team captain… first team NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection… only Mountain Hawk to start all 59 games… first team All-Patriot League selection… tied for second in the Patriot League with five home runs… ranked third in doubles (14) and RBI (36)… drilled three-run home run to account for Lehigh’s offense in NCAA Regional loss to Oklahoma… had team-leading 27 RBI in league games… went 7-for-9 (.778) in four games against Colgate with a home run and seven RBI… hit go-ahead sixth-inning grand slam in win over Colgate (4/21)… threw out six of 37 base stealers… went 3-for-5 with four RBI in win at Lafayette (4/1)... named to All-Patriot League Tournament Team.

As a sophomore: Only Mountain Hawk to start all 56 games (40 at catcher, 16 at DP)... named to Patriot League All-Tournament Team... blasted three home runs and drove in seven in Lehigh’s Patriot League Championship Game win over Colgate... had two of Lehigh’s four hits in the NCAA tournament including a double versus Maryland… first team All-Patriot League selection...ECAC All-Star… set Lehigh and Patriot League single season record with 21 doubles... ranked sixth nationally in doubles-per-game.... led Lehigh in home runs and paced the Patriot League in RBI... threw out 9-of-43 base stealers... went 5-for-9 with the bases loaded including game-ending grand slam versus Army (4/24)... Patriot League Player of the Week for March 14… named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

As a freshman: One of just two players to start all 50 games, splitting time between catcher and designated player… led Mountain Hawks with six home runs… ranked second on team with 11 doubles and 37 runs batted in… two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week… threw out six-of17 would-be base stealers (.352)… went 3-for-4 with home run and five RBI vs. Army (4/10).

In high school: three-time All-Conference selection… honorable mention All-State selection in her final two seasons… also lettered in lacrosse where she earned All-Conference honors as a junior… comes from the Colorado Stars Gold program, which also produced former Mountain Hawk Carly Potock ’11… Academic All-American and honor roll student.

Personal: Daughter of Lance and Karen Lucas… sister Kristina (19)… enjoys hiking, camping and fishing… traveled to Ecuador in the Summer of 2011 with student-athletes from Lehigh’s chapter of SALSC (Student Athletes Leading Social Change).

Getting to Know Liz
What’s your favorite thing about Lehigh?: My favorite thing about Lehigh is the opportunities to get involved outside of just school and softball. I have been given the chance to be a part of some incredible organizations and programs such as: Leadership Development, gryphon society, SALSC (Student Athletes Leading Social Change), and SAC (Student Athlete Council)
Major & Why: Earth and Environmental Science, this major gives me the opportunity to work closely with nature.
Favorite Class at Lehigh: Surficial Processes, basically following a drop of water from the sky through the mountains by rivers, then into the ocean.
Favorite Place on Campus: The Alumni Memorial Walkway
Favorite Food: Mom’s homemade pizza
Favorite Color: Green
Walkup Song: Swing Batter
Favorite Movie: Miracle
Favorite Website: Lehighsports.com,
Favorite Pro Team: Colorado Rockies
Favorite Athlete In Another Sport: Todd Helton
Hobbies: Hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and biking
Magazine Cover I'd Like To Be On: National Geographic
Place I'd Like To Visit: the Amazon Rainforest
Talent I’d Most Like To Have: To be able to dance
Dream Job: To go to different poverty struck families around the world and do their job for them for one month so during that month they are able to make extra money or get the things done they haven’t been able to do and document my experience. (Example: there are women in Ecuador who have to support families and their daily routine is to go to and from the crop area each day to feed the one cow they earn and work the fields for no pay, I would want to do that manual labor so they are able to take their child to the doctors or so they can supplement income to start a savings account).
I Wear My Jersey Number Because: when I was 7 years old I wanted to have the number 7 to represent my age, since then it has stuck with me
If I Didn't Play Softball, I Would Play: Lacrosse
If I Had $1 Billion, I Would: Start up an organization that works with children in Africa to better their lives and work with them to solve problems of poverty in their country. I would give back to Lehigh so that other Student-Athletes are able to attend such a great school as Lehigh. With a small portion I would also help out my family.
