KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Offensive woes plagued the Lehigh softball team in two losses Tuesday at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mountain Hawks managed a total of six hits in the two games as they fell to Butler 2-0 and Robert Morris (4-2) to fall to 4-6-1 on the season. Six different players notched one hit apiece, while Lehigh left eight runners on base in the two games.

In Tuesday's first game, Butler's Kristin Gutierrez went the distance on a three-hitter, recording 11 strikeouts en route to her first win of the season (1-6). Butler scored single runs against junior Ashley Quigley in the first and second innings and Gutierrez made the cushion stand.
The Bulldogs (5-11) took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the first as they loaded the bases with two outs and Audrey East scored as Krista Hakola reached on an error. Cassie Rupel added an RBI single in the second and Gutierrez took care of the rest. The Mountain Hawks had two runners on and one out in the second but were stymied when seniors Kristen Mitchell and Rosie Roessel went down on strikes. Lehigh was also unable to capitalize on a leadoff walk to freshman Alexis Watanabe in the sixth and a leadoff single by sophomore Cassie Waggy in the seventh.

Quigley bounced back from early-inning struggles to allow just one earned run on ten hits in six innings. She struck out three and did not walk a batter as she drops to 1-0 on the season.

Lehigh started strong against Robert Morris as Watanabe led off the game with a triple to left and then Lucas delivered a two-out RBI double to right to give the Mountain Hawks a 1-0 lead. Roessel ran for Lucas, and after two wild pitches, Roessel scored to put Lehigh up 2-0.

Robert Morris (8-6) came storming back with three runs in the top of the second. Tess Apke pulled the Colonials even with a two-run home run to left center off sophomore Emily Bausher. After a walk and a single, Ashley Gerhart singled up the middle to score Jessica Tanigawa with the go-ahead run. Apke added a RBI single in the third to put Robert Morris up 4-2.

From there Nicole Sleith took over for the Colonials, limiting Lehigh to just one hit, an infield single by freshman Morgan Decker in the sixth, over the next six innings. Sleith walked three and struck out six in a complete-game effort, while Bausher (2-2) took the loss for Lehigh, allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings. Senior Becca Bliss threw three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief.

The Mountain Hawks will be off on Wednesday and will look to rebound with two games Thursday as Lehigh will meet Saint Peter's at 3 p.m. and Wagner at 5 p.m.
