
Lehigh heads to Holy Cross Saturday for final road tilt of season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh field hockey team eyes its first Patriot League win of the season when it heads to Holy Cross to face the Crusaders. Gametime on Saturday is set for 12 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a tough weekend in New York where it dropped close games against Colgate (3-2) and Cornell (2-0). Lehigh has enjoyed success at Holy Cross, winning three straight in Worcester.
The Mountain Hawks and Raiders played neck-and-neck last Saturday, but Colgate scored two goals in a 1:04 span in the final 10 minutes. Freshman Marissa Glatt responded with her team (and league) leading 11th goal of the season, but it wasn't enough.
Lehigh followed with a solid effort at Cornell Sunday. The Big Red held a 1-0 lead for much of the game before a late insurance tally gave them the 2-0 victory.
Freshman Gabby Tofig stands second on the team with 11 points (four goals, three assists) while senior Caitlyn Mitchell has 10 (four goals, two assists). Sophomore Erin Ricker owns a team-leading 36 shots while Glatt's 23 shots on goal lead the squad. Freshman Julia Ward has impressed in goal, owning a 2.91 GAA and .764 save percentage.
Holy Cross is 4-11-0 on the season, owning wins over Siena, Sacred Heart, Bryant and Vermont. Katy Cronin, Lauren Sutherland and Molly Feit all have three goals and seven points to lead the team. Kat Matchett has seen the majority of time in goal, owning a 2.77 GAA and .670 save percentage.
The Crusaders lead the all-time series, 16-8-0. Holy Cross won last year's meeting 5-4 (in overtime) to snap a three-game Lehigh winning streak. The Mountain Hawks have won three in a row at Holy Cross.
Lehigh will return home for their season finale against #18 American next Saturday (Nov. 2) at 12 p.m. It will be Senior Day as Erinn Bonshak, Marie Mignogna and Caitlyn Mitchell will be honored prior to their final game in the Brown and White.
