Lehigh advances to PL Semifinals with 4-0 win vs. Holy Cross Friday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 2 seed Lehigh men's tennis team (13-7) advanced to the Patriot League Semifinals Friday thanks to a 4-0 win over No. 7 seed Holy Cross (1-6). The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles point before winning at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles for the sweep of the Crusaders. Lehigh will take the court again Saturday, facing No. 3 Armyat 2 p.m.
Mark Goldberg and Mitchell Peterson won at No. 2 doubles 8-1 while Timur Chernykh and Andrew Krentz won at No. 3 8-2. Benjamin Gilman and Matt Savran were winning at No. 1 4-2 but the match went unfinished with the doubles point already locked up.
At No. 1, Gilman was winning 6-0, 1-0, at No. 2 Peterson was winning 6-0, 1-1 and at No. 3, Savran was winning 6-0, 3-0 before all three matches were stopped as Lehigh completed the sweep for the 4-0 victory.
The Mountain Hawks will now face Army in the semifinals Saturday at 2 p.m. Lehigh posted an impressive 5-2 win over the Black Knights April 15 on the Ulrich Varsity Courts.
