KISSIMMEE, Fla. – After a day off Wednesday the Lehigh softball team returned to the diamond Thursday splitting a pair of contests at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mountain Hawks downed Florida A&M 6-1 to run their win streak to six, but saw that streak come to an end with a 3-2 loss to Detroit in the second game of the day. Lehigh is now 7-7 with two games remaining in its Florida trip.

In Thursday's first contest, Lehigh capitalized on three Rattler errors to score five unearned runs in the first two innings. Senior Julie Fernandez delivered a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the first inning that scored classmate Audra Wood from second. Junior Liz Lucas then followed with her second home run of the season, a two-run shot, to put the Mountain Hawks up 3-0 after one. Lehigh tacked on two runs on a walk and two Florida A&M errors in the second to extend the cushion to five.
Lehigh added its sixth and final run in the fourth inning on a two out double by senior Jen Colquhoun and an RBI single by Fernandez.

Freshman Emily Bausher started in the circle and was strong en route to her fourth straight win. She allowed three hits in five innings while striking out six and issuing zero walks. Bausher is now 4-3 with the victory. Sophomore Kelsey Lee pitched the last two innings, allowing the Rattlers' lone run in the top of the seventh.

Lehigh out-hit Florida A&M by an 8-6 margin with Fernandez, Lucas and freshman Cassie Waggy registering two hits apiece.

In Thursday's second game, the Mountain Hawks were unable to hold one-run leads on two occasions. Colquhoun and Fernandez continued to pace the offense, with Colquhoun bringing home junior Rosie Roessel with a first inning sacrifice fly, then in the third, Colquhoun hit a two-out triple and scored on an RBI double by Fernandez.

Detroit battled back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth on RBI singles by Alyssa Schaub and Vanessa Garcia. Lehigh tried to rally in the top of the seventh, getting Roessel to third base with two outs, but Wood grounded out to second to end the game.

Junior Rebecca Bliss took the loss for Lehigh allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits as she falls to 1-3.

The Mountain Hawks will wrap-up action at the Rebel Spring Games on Friday when they meet Manhattan at 9 a.m. and Yale at 1 p.m.
