KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Lehigh softball team extended its winning streak to five straight with a pair of wins Tuesday at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mountain Hawks received a pair of strong starting pitching performances in an 8-3 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) and a 2-1 victory over Detroit. Lehigh is now 5-1 on its Florida trip and has evened its season record at 6-6.

Freshman Emily Bausher took the ball for the Mountain Hawks in game one and did not allow an earned run in six innings of work, striking out eight as she improved to 3-3 on the season. Lehigh built a 5-2 lead after five innings and added on three more runs before the Red Flash scored a run off junior Rebecca Bliss in the seventh inning.

Junior Julie Fernandez got the offense going with a two-run single in the top of the first inning. Lehigh out-hit Saint Francis 13-5 with Fernandez and juniors Rosie Roessel and Liz Lucas picking up two hits apiece.

In game two sophomore Ashley Quigley was equally effective, striking out nine Titans in a complete-game effort, while allowing just one run as she improved to 2-1 on the year. Detroit scored its only run off Quigley in the first inning, but senior Jen Colquhoun continued her torrid start to the season at the plate with a third-inning two-run triple that gave the Mountain Hawks the lead. Colquhoun finished the night cap 3-for-3 with a single, double and the go-ahead triple.

Quigley allowed just five hits and worked around trouble in the third and fifth innings to nail down the win for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks will be off on Wednesday and will return to action on Thursday with games against Florida A&M and Detroit.
