KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Lehigh opened up action at the Rebel Spring Games by splitting a pair of games Sunday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks dropped their first game of the day 5-3 to Indiana State but bounced back in game two as freshman Emily Bausher tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 in a 4-0 Lehigh win. With the split Lehigh moves to 2-6 on the season.
Bausher retired 21 of the 23 batters she faced en route to her first career victory. The only two South Dakota baserunners were Morgan Hancock, who reached on an error in the first inning, and Bre Zmolek, who drew a one-out walk in the second. Bausher retired the final 17 batters she faced as she improves to 1-3 on the season.
In Sunday's opener against Indiana State, senior Jen Colquhoun drove in all three of Lehigh's runs, with a fifth-inning RBI triple and a two-run home run in the seventh, her third long ball of the season. Alyssa Heller went 3-for-3 for the Sycamores, who scored a run in the fourth inning and added two runs in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie before tacking on two more in the seventh.
Lehigh put the tying runs on base in the bottom of the seventh, but Kristen Felker struck out freshman Emma Capetz to end the game.
Junior Rebecca Bliss threw all seven innings for Lehigh but took the loss, falling to 0-2 on the season.
The Mountain Hawks will continue action at the Rebel Spring Games on Monday when they face Sacred Heart at 9 a.m. and South Dakota at 11 a.m.
