Mountain Hawks finish tenth at C&F Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Lehigh women's golf team wrapped-up action at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Kingsmill Resort River Course. After sitting in fifth place after 36 holes, the Mountain Hawks had a rough day Tuesday, as they fell to tenth place in the 16 team field with a final score of 946 (316-305-325).
 
Junior Chelsea Michalek led the Mountain Hawks, tying for 18th overall with a score of 233 (77-75-81). Her second round 75 was the low round of the tournament for the Brown and White. Freshman Kelly Moylan had the low Lehigh round on Tuesday, shooting 80 to finish in a tie for 39th place at 238 (81-77-80).
 
Others who competed for Lehigh included sophomore Crystal Lee, who tied for 30th at 236 (77-76-83), junior Ginette Schapira who shot 240 (81, 77, 82) and tied for 45th, and freshman Melanie Dickens who finished in 86th place with a score of 262 (90, 90, 82).
 
Longwood's Kameron Carter became the first two-time individual medalist in the 24-year history of the event as she shot 221 (71-74-76) to win the title by three strokes over Katia Joo of Boston College (79-72-73).
 
The Lancers also captured the team title, shooting a 912 (300-303-309) to defeat second place St. John's by ten strokes. Lehigh finished one shot behind Radford for ninth and one ahead of host William & Mary for 11th place.
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to Virginia next weekend to compete in the Spider Women's Intercollegiate, March 26-27 in Richmond.
