Bausher gem, four home runs propel Lehigh to split on final day in Virginia

RADFORD, Va. – Freshman Emily Bausher fired a one-hitter and added a career-high 15 strikeouts to lead Lehigh to a 6-0 win over Binghamton on the final day of the Radford Invitational. The Mountain Hawks had to settle for a Sunday split as they fell to the host Highlanders 4-3 in the nightcap. Senior Jen Colquhoun belted two-run home runs in both games as Lehigh moves to 9-11 on the season.
Bausher finished one strikeout shy of the school single game record allowing just a sixth-inning lead off double to Meghan Tucker and issuing four walks en route to her second shutout of the season as she evens her record at 5-5.
Lehigh utilized the long ball to account for five of its six runs. A Bearcat error prolonged the second inning, allowing junior Kristen Mitchell to smack a three-run home run to left field to give the Mountain Hawks a 3-0 lead. Lehigh tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning as Colquhoun delivered a two-run blast to right center, her fourth of the season. Senior Julie Fernandez then doubled to left and

Radford responded by scoring a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Michelle Beall and took the lead in the bottom of the second with two runs on a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly.
The Highlanders tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Meredith Moore.
Lehigh tried to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh inning. With one out, freshman Emma Capetz homered to center to pull the Mountain Hawks within one. Junior Rosie Roessel followed with a bunt single and moved to second on a ground out, but Jackie Jenkins got Colquhoun to ground out to shortstop to end the game.
Jenkins allowed three runs on nine hits in a complete game effort for Radford, while junior Rebecca Bliss took the loss for Lehigh allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings.
Bausher, Colquhoun and Mitchell were the three Mountain Hawks named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of Sunday's action.
The Mountain Hawks will open up their home schedule when they return to action on Wednesday. Lehigh will kick off a string of eight straight games at home when the Mountain Hawks host Penn for a doubleheader Wednesday at Kaufman Field. First pitch for game one is set for 2:30 p.m.
