BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team put forth an impressive team effort to down Lafayette on Friday, 172-126. The Mountain Hawks used nine first-place finishes to come back from an early deficit and capture their ninth straight win over Lafayette.

“Both teams were down big after diving and swam incredibly to make up 20 and 30 point deficits to win,” said head coach Rob Herb. “It was a true team effort on both the men's and women's sides. We needed a lot of 1-2 and 1-2-3 finishes to make up the points and they did. It's an amazing start to Lehigh-Lafayette weekend.”

The women also beat Lafayette for a fifth straight year, 169-125.

The Mountain Hawks finished 1-2-3 in three different events and 1-2 in four others.

Sophomore Danny Bennett captured first in two separate events - the 1,000 freestyle (9:49.61) and 500 freestyle (4:47.07) - as did freshman Jake Hassel, who finished in the 200 Butterfly (1:56.22) and 200 IM (2:00.64).

Juniors Demetrios Karedis, Christopher Hoke, Frank Cuzzola and senior Matthew won the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:11.30). Karedis also captured the 50 Freestyle (21.25) while Cuzzola finished first in the 100 Freestyle (47.62) and Chrzanowski won the 200 Backstroke (1:57.16).

Another winner included freshman Jeffrey Donovin in the 200 Freestyle (1:44.78).

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the U.S. Nationals in Austin, Texas.
