BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its lone dual meet of the season, the Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams defeated Lafayette Saturday at Rauch Fieldhouse. The men's team won 97-84, using its depth while junior Christopher Buck won the weight throw and shot pot. The women dominated 109.5-71.5, led by senior Alexandra Doersam who broke a pair of her own school records in the 60-meter dash and the long jump.
“It was a huge team effort on both sides,” said head coach Matt Utesch. “Everybody rose to the occasion. I'm really proud of our kids. When they needed to step up and bring it, they really did. As a coach, you can't ask for more than that.”
On the women's side, Doersam sparked Lehigh to its third straight victory. She finished the 60-meter dash in 7.84 seconds, breaking her own record of 7.89 seconds which she set last week at the Mountain Hawk Invite. Then in the long jump, Doersam won the event jumping a school record 5.74 meters, again surpassing her own record of 5.61 meters which was set last season. Doersam's long jump was also an ECAC/IC4A qualifying distance as 5.70m was the required minimum distance.
For her efforts, Doersam was named Lehigh's Lehigh's Female Track Athlete of the Meet.

“It was really important for us that when we didn't win an event, we got second and third,” Utesch said. “And when we did win event, we had the top two or three places. Our depth really pushed us through and we had some great performances.”
