Kosgei posts personal best in steeplechase at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Lehigh men's track team competed at Princeton's Sam Howell Memorial Invitational on Friday evening. The Mountain Hawks will be back in action on Saturday at the Lafayette Invitational.
In the men's steeplechase, Evans Kosgei set a personal record for himself with a finals time of 9:05.77. He also hit the IC4A qualifier for the steeplechase. Jordan Inacio also ran the steeplechase in a final time of 9:46.99.
 
In the 1500 meter run, Stephen Abate earned a time of 3:57.99, a strong showing for his opener. Niall Buckley finished about 1.5 seconds behind Abate with a final time of 3:59.44. The time for Buckley in the 1500 event was a personal best for him. Kyle O'Connor also earned a time of 4:04.85 in the 1500.
 
In the 5000 meter run, Evan Flach posted a time of 14:43.23, good for 15th place overall out of 85 competitors. Andrew Jervis also competed in the event, clocking in at 15:23.24.
 
On Saturday, The Mountain Hawks will compete at Lafayette in a seven-way all-around meet. Other schools participating will be Lafayette, Shippensburg, Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Georgian Court, Bloomsburg, Moravian and Ithaca. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. and running events are set to start at 12:30 p.m.
 
Following this weekend, the Mountain Hawks will head back to Easton next weekend for the annual Lafayette Dual.
