Freshmen shine in day one of Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh track and field teams had a strong first day at the Patriot League Championships on Friday, earning a top five finish in the women's pentathlon. Freshman Brooke Astor took third place in the event.
Astor took third place in the pentathlon with 3,238 total points. Astor earned first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.24.Additionally, her 9.19 time in the 60 meter hurdles was good enough for a second place finish. In the field events, Astor finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters.

The women's team is currently in third place with six team points. Navy is in first place with 10 points, but Army is right behind them with nine points.
On the men's side, freshman Ryan Paquin had a second place finish in the 60 meter dash heptatholon with a time of 7.36. Paquin also finished in second in the long jump (6.47 meters).
The men's heptathlon will finish up on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. Running events are slated to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday as well. The Field events will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday morning and finish on Sunday.
