McCollum named ECAC Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore guard C.J. McCollum was named ECAC Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. The award marks his second in as many days after earning his record-tying fifth Patriot League Player of the Week distinction on Monday.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference names winners for Divisions I, II and III each week throughout the season. McCollum last earned ECAC honors on Nov. 30 following a week which saw him score 89 points, including a 42-point outburst at Kent State.

McCollum filled the stat sheet last week, finishing with 53 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists in only two games. He posted a double-double in each contest and has now recorded three straight overall, seven for the season (six at home) and 10 for his career.

His highlight performance came against Holy Cross on Saturday when he scored 29 points and added a career-high tying 14 rebounds along with a season-high six assists. He almost single-handedly led Lehigh back from a double-digit second half deficit on the way to a 79-75 overtime triumph.

McCollum also added 24 points and 11 rebounds against Bucknell on Wednesday, which included a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line. He knocked down 23-of-24 free throws (96 percent) for the week and currently stands second in the nation in made free throws (144) behind an 86.2 percentage.

For the season, McCollum is up to a league-leading 22.1 points per game (10th in the nation). He is averaging 25.9 points in Patriot League play.
