BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off disappointing losses to their archrival Lafayette, the Lehigh track and field teams will look to bounce back this weekend at the Bison Outdoor Classic and the 2010 Coach P. Open. The distance runners from both teams will be heading to Lewisburg, while the rest of the student-athletes will head across town to Moravian.
“As with the indoor season we’re looking to keep improving our marks,” head coach Matt Utesch said. “We’re taking the distance runners to Bucknell to compete in some tough races and it will help improve their seed times for the Patriot League championships.
Utesch continue, “Moravian has a great facility for jumpers and throwers, which is great for our field athletes. The team really looks forward to competing over there and I expect to see some good results.”
The Mountain Hawks are coming off the Lehigh-Lafayette outdoor dual meet, which saw the Leopards come away with the sweep. Senior Nick Ray was one of Lehigh’s top performers, as he set new outdoor personal records in the shot put and hammer throw en route to winning both events.
Some athletes that Utesch said to keep an eye on this weekend are: Ray, senior Khalil Uqdah (pole vault), freshman Kevin Steimle (javelin), senior James Pachucki (javelin), senior Ashlee Atwell (pole vault), junior Emily Settle (hammer throw) and sophomore Alexandra Doersam (jumps/sprints).
Make sure to check back to Lehighsports.com both Friday and Saturday night for the latest news and results from both meets.
