Strong finish carries Lehigh to fifth place finish

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Lehigh completed action at the Lafayette Invitational on Sunday with a strong final round as the Mountain Hawks shot a 289 over the final 18 holes to pull into a tie for fifth place in the 19-team tournament.  Lehigh finished with a 615 over the course of the two days after shooting a 317 on Saturday.  Binghamton won the team crown with a 600 (310, 290) and the Bearcats were followed by Bucknell (313, 289 = 602), Lafayette (311, 299 = 610), St. Francis (Pa.) (311, 303 = 614), and Lehigh and Siena with identical 615s.  Lehigh’s top individual finisher was Doug Marcincin who tied for sixth place with a 150 (78, 72).

 

Other Mountain Hawks that competed this weekend include Tim Rosenhouse who tied for 29th with a 154 (78, 76), Steve Suarez who tied for 35th with a 155 (81, 74), Dylan Evans who tied for 37th after totaling a 156 (80, 76) and Mike Beddow who shot a 166 (87, 79) and tied for 87th.  Dwight D’Iorio and Sean Keller also entered the tournament and both had strong weekends as D’Iorio shot a 151 (75, 76) and Keller shot a 152 (80, 72).

 

Bucknell’s Andrew Cohen was the top individual finisher with a score of 141 (75, 66) with Jake Katz of Binghamton and David Gushee of Siena tying for second with identical scores of 144.

Lehigh will return to the links on April 17 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the two-day Navy Invitational.
