Lehigh men down Rider 174.5-125.5 to move to 5-0

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – For the fifth time in as many meets this season, the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team emerged victorious as the Mountain Hawks defeated Rider 174.5-125.5 Saturday at Coppola Pool. Lehigh won ten of 16 events, including two wins by the smallest of margins. Junior Chris Toth and sophomore Frank Cuzzola paced the Mountain Hawks with two individual wins apiece.
DiPietro and Cuzzola finished 1-2 in the 200 free with the senior prevailing in 1:45.48.
In the 100 breaststroke, sophomore Alex Aboud edged Jeremy Chaudet by four-hundredths of a second to win in 1:00.45. The margin was even smaller in the 200 IM where Lareau won in 1:58.08, besting Ryan Nelthropp by one-hundredth of a second.
Junior Kevin Shoemaker was also an event winner, taking the 200 fly in 1:55.42.
In the relays, Lehigh took the top two spots in both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle events. Lareau, Aboud, junior Angelo DiGiacinto and Cuzzola won the 200 medley in 1:35.84, while DiPietro, Hoke, DiGiacinto and freshman Connor Cackovic won the 400 free relay in 3:17.26.
Lehigh will be back in the pool on Sunday, as the Mountain Hawk men will host NJIT at 11 a.m. at Jacobs Pool.
