Mountain Hawks host Wagner in home opener on Monday night

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a hard-fought opener at Penn State on Friday, the Lehigh men's basketball team looks for its first win of the season on Monday when it returns to Stabler Arena to host Wagner. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks (0-1) were led by a pair of freshmen against the Nittany Lions, with Anthony D'Orazio netting 17 points and Mackey McKnight scoring 13.
Lehigh was leading Friday's game at the half, 27-21, but Penn State bounced back to retake the lead down the stretch. D'Orazio was the story for the Mountain Hawks, scoring 14 of his team-high 17 points in a four minute stretch in the first half. He finished his collegiate debut shooting 6-for-9 from the field and 4-for-7 from three-point range. McKnight was equally as impressive, scoring 13 while dishing three assists as the starting point guard.
Wagner enters Monday with a 1-0 record, having defeated Lafayette in its season-opener, 63-58. Tyler Murray and Latif Rivers scored 18 in the opener while Chris Martin netted 16. Martin was the team's leading scorer last season, averaging 12.1 points per game, while Murray scored 8.8 points per contest.
The Seahawks are the first of five NEC teams on the Mountain Hawks' schedule, including two straight this week. Lehigh plays at Monmouth on Friday at 7 p.m. before returning home to host defending Ivy League Champion and Sweet 16 Participant Cornell next Monday night.
Lehigh and Wagner meet for the 18th time with the Seahawks holding a 12-5 advantage. The last time the teams met was during the 2004-05 season. They last played at Stabler Arena on Jan. 2, 2004, a 64-59 Lehigh victory.
The Mountain Hawks head to Monmouth on Friday before hosting defending Ivy League Champion and Sweet 16 participant Cornell on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets for all home games are now on sale and may be purchased on Lehighsports.com or by calling the ticket office at (610) 7LU-GAME.
