Mountain Hawks drop final game of Florida trip

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Lehigh wrapped up action at the Under Armour Classic with a 2-1 loss to Evansville Sunday morning at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. Evansville junior Jennifer McKee went the distance allowing just one unearned run on four hits and Jennifer Stalhut drove in a pair of runs with a sixth inning double to lead the Purple Aces Lehigh finishes with a 1-4 record at the Under Armour Classic with three of the four losses coming by just one run.
The loss drops the Mountain Hawks to 8-7 on the season. Lehigh plated its run in the bottom of the sixth when freshman Audra wood scored on an error.
Freshman Julie Fernandez made her first collegiate appearance in the pitcher’s circle, throwing an inning-plus, before giving way to senior Lisa Sweeney, who took the loss, allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Sweeney walked one and struck out six as she falls to 5-3 on the season.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the diamond on Friday at the Dukes Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va. Lehigh will face Niagara at 9 a.m. and host James Madison at 1 p.m.
