The Lehigh men have not defeated the Leopards since a 95-86 victory in 2001, while the Mountain Hawk women have won only three times against their archrivals, but two of those wins have come in each of the last two seasons.
In last year’s women’s meet, Nicole Montegary won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.4 and she also took first in the 200-meter dash as she raced to a time of 26.4 seconds. K.T. Hessler won the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:21.2 and Jen Schappert took a pair of races, the one-mile run and the 3000-meters. Senior Khayla Lowe won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.0 seconds, while Lauren Edwards won the high jump, leaping 1.60-meters in the finals and Lindsay Hinsch took both the long jump (5.45-meters) and the triple jump (11.23-meters).
On the men’s side, David Falk raced his way to a first place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.80 seconds, and Waleed Amer took the crown in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.1 seconds. Dave Merola (2:32.1) won the 1000-meter run, and Mark Swanson (8:48.80) and Victor Vientos (8:50.0) went one-two in the 3000-meter run. The 4 x 400-meter relay team for Lehigh defeated the Leopards squad with a time of 3:36.9. In the field events, Vaclav Malek won both the high jump (2.00-meters) and the pole vault (3.81-meters).
This will be the 19th meeting indoors all-time between the two schools on the women’s side, while the men will be going at it for the 33rd time in history.
