Day two of league championships are over

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh continued competition at the 2005 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon from Rauch Fieldhouse. The Mountain Hawks continued their strong showing at the event, led by junior Vaclav Malek, who won the heptathlon, displaying his all-around athletic ability in a series of events. After two days of competition, it’s the Bison of Bucknell leading the event on the women’s side with 80 team points, while the Mountain Hawks are second with 38 points. On the men’s side, Army is the leader with 66 points, while the Brown and White have earned 39 points, good for third place.

On the women’s side, K. T. Hessler won the high jump with a leap of 5’5”, earning the Mountain Hawks ten points, while Lindsay Hinsch took third in the long jump, posting a leap of 17’6”, earning the Brown and White six points.

For the men, Malek was dominant winning his crown, as he registered 4848 points, giving the Lehigh men ten team points. Malek then added a third place finish in the high jump to his credentials, as he cleared 6’5”.

Competition resumes tomorrow morning at 10:00 am from Rauch Fieldhouse. An awards ceremony will wrap up the entire weekend at 5:15 from inside of the Fieldhouse.
