Bethlehem, PA – Mountain Hawks laid claim to three of the this week’s four Patriot League Track & Field awards after strong performances at the Lehigh Quad on Saturday. Junior George Evans, sophomore Francis Vincent, and senior Katie Dukatz were all honored. Evans was recognized as the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after shattering his own 60m dash record. His time of 6.97 made him the first Mountain Hawk to break 7.00 seconds, and bested his previous mark of 7.01. This is the first time Evans has been rewarded by the Patriot League. Both he and Vincent helped the Mountain Hawks to a second place finish at the meet in Rauch Field House. The junior pulls double duty as a member of the Mountain Hawks’ football team as well. Vincent, the Patriot League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, is making a habit of winning the long and triple jumps, having done so two straight weeks. He repeated his double win as he hopped, skipped, and jumped his way to a mark of 47’ 10" before long jumping 23’ 7 ¾" to win his second event of the day. Both marks qualified him for the IC4A Championships. The sophomore also placed fifth in the 200m and seventh in the 60m. Dukatz joined Evans as a first time honoree as she was named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Dukatz took the top spot in the high jump for the second consecutive week, clearing 5’4". The only jumper to clear 5’ 2", the senior helped fuel the Mountain Hawks’ second place effort. The defending Patriot League Champion in the event, Dukatz also puts her leaping ability to use on the volleyball court for Lehigh. "It’s always great when you get performances like those," head coach Matt Utesch said. "It makes it even better when the performances are recognized outside of our team." Evans’ record was the third new Lehigh standard reached in as many meets. Last weekend at Rutgers, senior Yasmin Deliz set a record in the shot put with a toss of 45’ 6 ¾". Against Millersville on December 6, sophomore Lindsay Hinsch set a new triple jump record after covering a distance of 37’ 6". Evans, Vincent, and Dukatz join Hinsch and sophomore Nick Maiorino as Mountain Hawks recognized by the Patriot League this season. Lehigh returns to action with a dual meet against archrival Lafayette on Saturday at Rauch Field House. Field events are slated for a 3:00 start, with the gun sounding for the first track event at 4:00. For more information, please contact
