Bethlehem, PA – Two Mountain Hawks have been honored for their success both in the classroom and on the track. Senior Mike Kitchko and sophomore Nick Maiorino have both been named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District II Track and Field/Cross Country University Division Second Team. This recognition is voted on by sports information directors in the District II region, which includes Pennsylvania. A senior from Lansford, Pa., Mike Kitchko finished fourth in the hammer throw at 161’ 1" at the 2003 Patriot League Outdoor Championships. Kitchko earned Verizon second team honors by posting a 3.86 grade point average in the classroom as a chemical engineering major. Nick Maiorino also performed quite well at the league showcase, as he threw a 161’ 4.5" in the hammer, good for third in the Patriot League. Maiorino also placed fourth in the shot put, with a 44’ 11" toss. In the classroom, Maiorino boasts a 3.85 GPA as a mechanical engineering major.
