Bethlehem, PA – After setting pair of track records and winning four events this past weekend, Lehigh senior Justina Barone has been named the Patriot League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Barone won two events Friday at the Lehigh Valley Outdoor Championships, and two more Saturday the Jim Thorpe Meet at Penn State. At the Lehigh Valley Championships, Barone set track records in both hurdle events. In the 100-meter high hurdles, she broke the old mark with her time of 14.87, while her 1:02.35 finish in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles set a new track standard as well. She would take a second 400 IH win in as many days, with her time of 1:02.69 at Penn State. She followed that up by running a leg on Lehigh’s first place 4 x 100-meter relay team. Barone teamed with sophomore Lindsay Hinsch and freshmen Kim Rhodes and Laura Tom to run a 50.58, narrowly beating the team from St. Francis of Pennsylvania. Barone and her Mountain Hawk teammates will take to the track again on Saturday, when they travel to rival Lafayette for a dual meet. Field events begin at 2:00, with the first race on the track at 3:00. For more information, please contact Posted Tuesday, April 1, 2003
