Barone competes at Combined Events Championships

Chapel Hill, NC – Lehigh Senior Justina Barone competed at the 2003 USA Indoor Combined Events Championships at the Eddie Smith Field House on March 8-9. One of just four collegians in the event, she placed 12th in the women’s pentathlon with a score of 3,662 and just one point behind the 11th place finisher. Barone’s best event was the 800m run, where she ran a personal best of 2:19.91 to place third. Her time of 8.82 seconds in the 60m hurdles garnered her more points than any other event, with 948 points of her total coming in the race. The honor of competing at the USATF sponsored event came just one week after the senior claimed her third Patriot League Championship in the pentathlon. At the Patriot League Championships, she set both the league and school records with a score of 3739. Barone set two more school records on her way to being named Field Athlete of the Meet. At the USA Indoor Combined Events Championships, Barone was one of only four collegiate athletes to compete out of 15 entries.
