Reed continued, “Our players have responded fairly well in the early going yet they are aware that there is much more to be done to become a championship-caliber team.”
Lehigh returns seven letterwinners from last season’s team, and Reed spoke about how the upperclassmen have done in the early portion of practice. “Our experienced players have done a nice job in setting the tone in practice from a competitive standpoint. I’m pleased with the overall performance of many of that group of guys and will look for more from them as we move along here.”
With five freshmen on the roster, Reed has had his eye on the newcomers to see how they are adjusting to the rigors of college basketball. Despite showing signs of their age at times, Reed is pleased with how they have picked up on things. “Our younger players are learning what it will take to be successful at the Division I level. There have been a few freshmen that have begun to establish themselves as potential contributors for our team which is certainly a positive.’
Reed concluded, “As we move closer to the date of our first competition, we now have the foundation in place on our offensive and defensive principles and philosophies. Although there are new things to learn, the goal is to refine our play and improve our effectiveness and efficiency on both ends of the floor.”
