BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Steve Fisher ‘04, a former standout forward for the Brown and White, has decided to hang up his soccer cleats and retire from professional soccer. Fisher spent his entire six-year career playing for the Harrisburg City Islanders of the United Soccer League Second Division.
The Hershey, Pa., native leaves the City Islanders as their all-time leader in games played (103) and is fourth in minutes played with 5,587. Fisher ranks second in team history in points (49) and assists (17), and he is tied for second in goals with 16.
Fisher will be remembered for some of the biggest goals in Harrisburg team history and it starts with the City Islanders first-ever goal on May 8, 2004. Fisher proved he was a big game player when he scored the overtime game-winner over Cleveland on August 18, 2007 to send Harrisburg to the USL-2 Championship game. Fisher also scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over D.C. United on June 11, 2007, which was the City Islanders first win over a Major League Soccer team.
During his career at Lehigh, Fisher played in 59 games for the Mountain Hawks and finished with 20 career goals. Fisher scored 10 of his 20 goals in his senior season and was selected to the First Team All-Patriot League that season.
