Mountain Hawks and Crusaders meet in pivotal game

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh travels to Worcester to take on the first-place Crusaders of Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon in a key matchup. The Mountain Hawks, currently tied with Bucknell for second place, are right in the thick of things as teams jockey for tournament positioning heading down the stretch of the season. In its last game, Lehigh defeated Army 69-64, while the Crusaders dropped Lafayette 81-60 on Friday evening. Lehigh is 1-4 all-time vs. the Crusaders under head coach Billy Taylor who is going for career-victory number 50 Sunday afternoon. While the Brown and White started off slow this season on the road, losing its first five away from home, the Mountain Hawks have come on of late, winning five of their last seven, including three of five within league play.

After shooting only 61 percent (163-269) from the free throw line in its first 14 games of the season, Lehigh has come on of late, hitting 75 percent (153-205) from the charity stripe in the last nine contests, including a 17 of 19 showing (90%) versus Army on January 28. The Mountain Hawks are averaging 34.1 rebounds per game, which is only fourth in the Patriot League, but Lehigh is a perfect 9-0 this season when grabbing more boards than its opponent. Over the past two seasons the Brown and White is an incredible 24-1 when out rebounding its opponents. Leading Rebounders: Earl Nurse - 5.6, Nick Monserez - 4.7, Jason Mgebroff - 4.2

Sunday’s game is scheduled for a 2:00 tip-off from Holy Cross’s Hart Center. The game will be televised live on Patriot League Television, as well as College Sports Television (CSTV), DirecTV Channel 610 and beginning at 4:00 on WFMZ Channel 69.
