Mountain Hawks open up conference play at American

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh and American meet on Saturday afternoon in the Patriot League opener for both clubs. The game is a rematch of the 2004 Patriot League Championship last March, won by Lehigh 59-57 on Jose Olivero’s off balance jumper with 3.9 seconds remaining. Both teams lost in their last time out, as the Mountain Hawks fell to Cornell on Tuesday at Stabler Arena, while American was downed by Big-12 foe Missouri on the same night. Lehigh is 2-0 in league openers under Billy Taylor, including an 80-61 victory over Navy last season. The Mountain Hawks are also 2-0 in their road league openers under Taylor, which includes a thrilling overtime victory in Washington, D.C. last season. Lehigh has not won a league road game since defeating Navy on February 8, 2004 in Annapolis.

Lehigh’s Jose Olivero and American’s Andre Ingram were both named to the Patriot League All-Freshmen Team a season ago, and both have carried that solid play into this season.
