Lehigh looks to go over .500 versus Big Red

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh returns to Stabler Arena for the first time since December 15 this evening as the Mountain Hawks welcome the Big Red of Cornell to town. Lehigh has won its last two contests, both on the road, and is looking to go over .500 for the first time since November 30 tonight. The Mountain Hawks are 28-4 all-time inside of Stabler Arena under head coach Billy Taylor, having won 17 of their last 19 at home. Lehigh is especially dangerous in the month of January at Stabler under its headman, with a record of 9-0, and an average margin of victory of 9.8 points. The Mountain Hawks have an overall record of 13-4 under Taylor during the first month of the year, with their last loss coming on January 23, 2004 in Easton versus Lafayette, 111-104 in OT.

The Mountain Hawks have stepped it up on the defensive end over the past three games, holding their opponents to an average of 17.6 made field goals, 37 percent shooting from the field and just 58 points. Lehigh is 6-1 this season when leading at the half and 21-3 in its last 24 games when going to the locker room in front on the scoreboard. The last time the Mountain Hawks lost after leading at the break was at Stony Brook on December 4 and before that you would have to go back to January 24, 2004 when Lehigh fell to archrival Lafayette 111-104 in overtime after leading 41-40 at intermission. In contrast, Lehigh is 4-15 when it trails at the half in its last 19 games when faced with that scenario.

Tuesday’s tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 from Stabler Arena. Tickets can be purchased before the game at the arena.
