Bethlehem, PA – Senior point guard Zlatko Savovic was honored by the Patriot League Monday as its Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time overall this season. Savovic posted 23.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game in the Mountain Hawks’ pair of victories over the weekend. He shot .519 from the floor, .364 from three point land, and .737 from the free throw line, while playing in 32.5 minutes per game. In the 85-73 victory over Lafayette, Savovic posted a career high in points with 28, while dishing seven assists. His half court buzzer-beating three point shot at halftime tied the game at 39-39 and gave Lehigh the momentum it needed for the second half and subsequent victory. In Sunday’s 78-61 victory over Army, Savovic continued to dazzle the onlookers. He went 5-of-8 from the floor and scored 18 points, a game high for either team. Continuing his success at point guard, Savovic again led the Mountain Hawks with five assists, while pulling down one rebound. "I am proud of Zo for this accomplishment," said head coach Billy Taylor. As coaches and players, we appreciate what he has done. He has performed at a high level and raised the bar in terms of expectations for Lehigh basketball. I hope he continues this success for the remainder of the season." For the season Savovic is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game. He also leads the squad in assists with 69, and averages 30.4 minutes per contest. The first place Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday in an 8:15 p.m. tip off at Holy Cross. The game can be heard live on Oldies 1470, WKAP with Matt Kerr providing the play by play.
