Lehigh looks to go 2-0 in league play

Lehigh is off to its best start since the 1989-90 season following a 76-59 victory at Navy. With the win Lehigh improved to 9-5, 1-0, while Navy fell to 4-10, 0-1. The win was the Mountain Hawks 50th all time Patriot League win and only the fourth ever win over Navy head coach Don DeVoe. Zlatko Savovic led the way with 19 points. The senior from Everett, Washington led all scorers by going 7-of-10 from the floor, 1-of-3 from three point land, and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. Matt Crawford led the team with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Ra Tiah, Matt Logie, and Mike Cowgill each tallied three assists. Bucknell enters Wednesday’s contest holding an 82-52 all time series lead. Lehigh has only managed two wins in the past ten years vs. the Bison. Bucknell has won two consecutive contests, including wins over Robert Morris and Patriot League foe American. Leading the way for the Bison is senior Boakai Lalugba. Lalugba is averaging a double-double, 17.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Lalugba is Bucknell’s only regular who averages double figures, however, two other starters, Brian Werner and Kevin Bettencourt are averaging more than nine points per game. Lehigh and Bucknell have met numerous times over the years. The Bison were one of the first ever opponents of the Brown & White, having defeated Lehigh 68-3 in 1901-02. Wednesday’s game will be the first at the brand new Sojka Pavilion. Wednesday’s game can be heard live on the Lehigh website at www.lehigh.edu and on Oldies 1470, WKAP.
