Logie, Heil receive All-League honors

Upper Marlboro, MD – Junior Matt Logie earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors for the second season in a row and freshman Eric Heil was named to the All-Rookie team in a vote of the league’s coaches. The awards were announced at the league’s pre-tournament banquet on Friday evening at the Newton White Mansion located in Mitchellville, Maryland. A member of the All-Rookie team as a freshman, and a second team selection as a sophomore, Logie finished first in league scoring (17.3 ppg.) and third overall (15.6 ppg.). Logie, from Mercer Island, Washington, scored in double figures in all but five games this season and scored 20 or more points seven times. He scored a career high 33 points against American and became the school’s 23rd player to reach 1,000 points, just the seventh as an underclassmen. Loge finished the regular season shooting 39.5% from behind the three-point line and a 92.5% from the charity stripe. A native of Bettendorf, Iowa, Heil was a four time Rookie-of-the-Week selection this season and led the league in blocks with 33 on the season. He averaged 1.4 blocks per game as a 6-8 forward. Heil blocked a career high eight shots against Swarthmore and swatted five attempts against Colgate. Only Nate Lufkin of Holy Cross earned Rookie-of-the-Week honors more times than Heil and the two battled for Rookie-of-the-Year honors.
