KISSIMMEE, Fla. – After an off-day Wednesday, Lehigh returned to the diamond on Thursday and continued its hot start to the season with two more victories at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mountain Hawks opened the day with an 8-5 win over Detroit, and then pulled out a one-run win over Sacred Heart 4-3, behind a two out game-winning single from freshman Alex Cueva. Lehigh is now 11-1 on the season with two games remaining in its Florida trip.

Junior Lisa Sweeney continued to lead the way for the Brown and White, at the plate against Detroit, and then in the pitcher’s circle against Sacred Heart. Sweeney went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored against the Titans, and received plenty of help from Lehigh’s freshman class. Mickey LaValley earned the start in left field and went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Sophomore Tiffany Curtis (4-1) earned the win in relief of freshman Bri Gaumer. Lehigh has now beaten Detroit twice at the Rebel Spring Games.

Cueva’s game-winning single helped Sweeney improve to 6-0 in the circle this season. Freshman Carly Potock was 3-for-3 for the Mountain Hawks in the nightcap versus Sacred Heart.

Lehigh will wrap up action at the Rebel Spring Games with two more games on Friday. The Mountain Hawks will face IPFW at 9 a.m. and wrap-up their week long stay with a third game against Detroit at 11 a.m.
