Lehigh places 12th and 19th at regional race

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh hosted the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Saturday morning on the Goodman Campus.  The men’s team placed 12th of 28 teams and the women placed 19th of 28 teams.  Jon Wetzel was the top finisher for the men, coming in 55th overall, with a time of 31:39 in the 10K race and Alexis Weiner came in 62nd place for the women, finishing the 6K race in 22:08.

 

On the men’s side Georgetown retained its title as Mid-Atlantic champion, finishing with 42 total points.  Villanova came in second with 70 points and had the top time of the day, with Robert Curtis finishing the race in 30:08.  Princeton placed third, with three runners finishing in the top ten. 

 

The Mountain Hawks finished with 368 points, tied with Saint Joseph’s for 12th place.  Finishing behind Wetzel was Carl Leuing in 61st (31:47), followed by Ben Lampi (78; 32:05), Dan McClimon (80; 32:07), Steve Sample (94; 32:25), Dan DeWitt (108; 32:45) and Kenny Burgess (129; 33:16).

 

In the women’s race Princeton successfully defended its Mid-Atlantic title, finishing with 62 points.  West Virginia came in second with 77 points, followed by Georgetown with 79 points.  The Hoyas’ Melissa Grelli had the top women’s time, finishing the race in 19:50. 

 

The Brown and White finished with 537 points in 19th place.  Finishing behind Weiner was Katie McClernand in 107th (22:59), followed by Dana Stellar (113; 23:10), Jennifer Curran (127; 23:16), Andrea Mascaro (128; 23:27) and Jen Filiberto (144; 23:59).
